New Focus on
Best Wishes for a Blessed 2018
Family, above all, is the reason that I do the work I do.
From my family to yours...
SOGO’s mission has always been to protect what matters most to you and that will still be our primary motivation that drives us as we serve our clients in the year ahead.
As I reflect back on 2017, I am feeling particularly blessed. Spending the holiday season surrounded by my loved ones puts life into perfect perspective.
After all what matters more than protecting your FAMILY?
Life insurance planning discussions are often put off because it requires people to face thoughts and emotions that we would rather not have. We are busy living and would rather not stop to think about what may happen when we die.
My goal is to change the conversation surrounding life insurance to place the focus on how it can create a better life for those you love. Additionally, life insurance policies can function as so much more than just a death benefit. They can also be important savings and investment vehicles to maximize the lifestyle you can expect to enjoy during your retirement.
Living your best life and ensuring that loved ones can continue a similar lifestyle is the essence of life insurance. Make it your goal in 2018 to talk to a life and financial professional to ensure that you and your family our truly protected.
Larry R. Ynman
However, it has particularly strong influence on my day-to-day work. In my role as the director of SOGO’s Life & Financial Division, I am passionate about helping clients understand the importance of life insurance.
You spent countless hours over the holidays trying to find the perfect gift for your loved ones. Then Christmas morning arrived with a crescendo of gift unveiling…wrapping paper filled the room and chaos ensued as children squealed with delight.
Then, just as quickly, the day was over. And that perfect gift will eventually end up at the bottom of the toy box.
Of course, we’ll recreate the same gifting frenzy all over again next year! But while the topic of gifts is still on our minds, now is a good time to heed some practical gift-giving advice from our friends at Life Happens.

Now that the busy-ness of the holiday season has passed, look ahead and take time to learn more about life insurance...the gift that keeps on giving.

The Gift That Will Keep On Giving: Life Insurance

What you need to know about life insurance
You probably have no shortage of gift-giving ideas, but here’s one item you may not have considered: getting life insurance for yourself. Yes, yourself. You see, life insurance is a way to show your love year ’round, and is a gift that will keep on giving, even when you are no longer here.
It’s the gift of security, ensuring that those who rely on you now will be taken care of should anything unexpected happen to you. For example, because Mike Rowe listened to his insurance agent and kept his life policy in force despite having financial challenges, his wife Cindy Lu and his four children were provided for when he died at age 47 of brain cancer.
It’s the gift of a future, an investment against your children’s potential and unexpected needs. The experience of Norm and Sandy Page (another of LIFE’s real LIFE stories) illustrates this in a very clear way. When the couple’s son, Adam, was born with Spina Bifida, Norm and Sandy used some of the cash value from their whole life policies to not only pay for medical items not covered under health insurance, but also to help their son pursue his dream of securing a spot on the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. He succeeded, and, at 18, Adam won a gold medal at the Paralympic Games in Vancouver.
It’s the gift of love and a way to help ease the sorrow that comes with loss. Both Missy Junk, orphaned at age 16, and John Butcher, whose 37-year-old wife died from an undiagnosed heart condition, learned that while nothing can replace those who’ve gone, knowing that they cared enough to insure their lives is evidence of the love they had for those left behind.
