Where people with disabilities Thrive!
That’s the gut-wrenching question parents must answer every day on behalf of their developmentally disabled child. Today, we provide homes in more than 60 cities across Northeast Ohio, but there is still such great need, with more than 900 developmentally disabled people waiting for homes.
What will happen to them without NCCH?
In 1984, North Coast Community Homes (NCCH) was created with the mission to develop and maintain safe, high quality homes in Northeast Ohio for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness and other disabilities. Many of the wonderful individuals we serve have no family or have aging parents who can't as easily meet the growing demands for care. In keeping with our mission, our homes are safe, comfortable, and affordable, and are designed to empower persons with disabilities to live fuller, more independent lives.
To date, NCCH has provided more than 230 homes in six counties and helped more than 1,000 individuals, but there is a long waiting list of others in need.
Alone, NCCH can only do so much. That’s why your help is so critical—to ensure that families don’t have to live in fear of what will happen once they are no longer able to care for and protect their loved ones from the difficulties they face.

General Maintenance Funds
For people with developmental disabilities, homes are more complex to meet their physical and developmental needs and challenges. All homes require wheelchair ramps, widened hallways, sprinkler systems safety and above-stove fire suppression systems to stop fires where they are most likely to occur.
As you can imagine, the cost is great – but so is the reward. That’s where you come in. Your donations go directly to purchasing and refitting homes for people with special needs. And it’s making a difference right in your own backyard. NCCH is a local charity that keeps all funding in Northeast Ohio. We have a variety of funding sources, but it's not enough. We still need the help of individuals like you. Would you help us provide a home?
It's not enough to provide just a house, we strive to provides homes. Many of the homes are under an increased amount of wear and tear. Sometimes it's a result of behavioral challenges, other times it is simply the nature of having multiple people with special needs in the home.
We own and manage over 200 homes. Every year in we fulfill hundreds upon hundreds of maintenance requests. Last year we received 2,522 maintenance requests. Every one of them has to be resolved. It's the only way to keep the homes safe for our residents. But it's costly. To keep rent low and affordable for all our residents with limited resources, we look to you for help defraying some of the expenses involved in maintaining a home and keeping it safe.

The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.
Zachary has been a resident of NCCH for more than 20 years. Having a home that is safe and well-maintained allows Zachary the stability, comfort, and freedom to do things like play the organ and work part-time at River Copy and Mail.

The end of the year is challenging for many charitable organizations. No matter how responsible and diligent you are, there are always unexpected expenses. There are always things we still need to take care of.
Your special end of year gift helps us take care of the those unexpecteds. It also positions us for the new year, so we're able to respond quickly to the urgent needs of some of Ohio's most vulnerable.
Without the important work we do, many of our residents would be in institutions, homeless, or in homes where it may be a struggle to provide the consistent care they need to be safe - and to be fulfilled. We take the work we do very seriously. We know there is more to do. We need your help to do it. Your tax-deductible generous donation of any amount is appreciated. Your gift may help us get and modify a house, so more people can find joy in a home to call their own. Your gift may help us replace a washing machine that has broken down one too many times. Your gift may help us put on our annual residents' picnic, which puts smiles on so many faces. No matter how much you can send, we know your gift will help.
We have a responsibility to our residents and to our communities. We're excited by the prospect of fulfilling some of that responsibility by reducing our energy footprint. Not only is it good for the environment, but it's great for the residents. We estimate that switching to LED lights will save residents hundreds of dollars per year in electric bills. And there's more that we want to do beyond saving electricity.
Another important project is installing water saving measures. This includes water saving shower heads and low flow aerators, which, in addition to saving money and water, will be nicer for our residents who struggle with over stimulation and other issues.
