A weekly guide to Illuminate your Life
A Note from Katie
Hi everyone, I hope that you are having a wonderful week! I had the opportunity to spend the weekend camping with my family on the banks of the Snake River. Even my college kids made it home for the trip. Connecting to the earth and the people was good for my soul.
I am calling this week's magazine the "You Deserve Good Things Too" edition, because too frequently, we expect good things for others much more than we ask for them ourselves. Make this week about what YOU need to thrive!
Please join me on October 8th at 11:00 AM Pacific for the "Katie Weaver Show" on 12Radio. I will be live streaming at in the 12Radio Chat Room on Facebook. Learn more about me at www.katie-weaver.com.
My Musings, Mostly for Me
Sometimes for you
What does Self-Care mean to you?
We hear this suggestion a lot, this idea of self care, radical self care, extreme self care even. It is a great idea, but how does it apply to you? I have broken it down into 3 key areas to evaluate.
Physical Self Care
How is your body doing? Are you experiencing pain, discomfort, limitations or other symptoms? Evaluating your health is important because that helps you to nail down what your body needs from you. Be sure that your doctor is a part of this convo. Think about water intake, nutrition, movement and rest. If you are not where you want to be with health, start setting some goals and putting you first. That may mean adjusting your budget to get regular massage or pay for a gym membership. Perhaps it is letting go of someone else’s expectations of you in order to have time to take better care of you. Maybe it is even about getting vulnerable and real about your health and asking for help. Any way that you look at it, YOU are worth it. Your body is worth investing the time, money and love into in order to feel as good as you can.
Emotional Self Care
How are you, really? Are you fighting back tears every day and slapping on a smile? We have been conditioned to fake happiness at any cost, for the comfort level of others. The truth is, though, we all go through periods where we are not feeling rainbows and butterflies. If that is the case for you, it is so worth reaching out for some help. Your doctor should always hear about how you are feeling, for realsies, so that they can help. Sometimes finding someone to talk to helps a lot as well. Journaling, blogging and getting out of the house are all ways to offer yourself emotional self care. You are worth nurturing and comforting!
Spiritual Self Care
Nobody ever asks, “How is your spirit?” It isn’t something that we think about all that much. We should though. Your spirit is just as important as your body, after all. Are you in balance? Is your spirit getting the nourishment and enrichment that it needs? And most importantly, WHAT does nourish your spirit? For one person that may be found in nature, for another it could be found in music or religion or deep talks with others. There is no wrong answer. However, you should be taking regular steps to care for and feed your spirit. What does that look like for you?
At the end of the day, we are all different and our needs are different too. The key is to remain aware of your own needs and respond accordingly. There is nothing to be gained by acting like a martyr. Take the steps that you need to thrive. You owe that you yourself!

Take a Breather
We all take approximately 23,000 breaths daily and most of those breaths are accomplished without giving them a second thought! We are linked to life through our breath. We are able to live days without food, hours without water, but we only live briefly without breath. Maybe we should spend more time thinking about breathing and the energy it brings us all.
Scientific research has verified that conscious control of how we breathe improves brain function, increases the functioning of the immune system, benefits the body in healing and self repair, and increases tolerance to pain. The Chinese describe energy and breath as one (Qi), which is responsible for mind focus, healing, longevity, and spiritual oneness. The East Indian Yogis believe the breath is the way to find inexhaustible energy known as Prana, which is the path to mindfulness and spiritual enlightenment.
If we combine the ancient and modern trains of thought, we can structure our breathing for valuable personal benefits. Breath is the source of infinite power and creative energy. Let’s dissect breathing into its three main functions: Inhalation, exhalation, and what lies in between. Inhalation is the active process of taking in air (which contains oxygen) into the lungs.Exhalation is the ‘passive’ process of letting carbon dioxide containing air out of the lungs. What is happening behind the scenes of breathing is oxygen is being carried to every body cell via the lungs and blood circulation to create energy, and carbon dioxide (waste) is being carried out of every cell via the blood to be expelled through exhalation. In this simplistic description you will notice what is being left out: the in-between. (If you haven’t already stopped and taken a breath while paying attention to its mechanics do so now.) Do you notice the ever so slight pause present between the inhalation and exhalation? It can easily and consistently be overlooked and yet I had aforementioned the in-between as one of the three main functions of breathing and because of this I would like to change the phrase, in-between to the word void.
No doubt void is a curious term to name the time between inhalation and exhalation. One of the current meanings of void is ‘a completely empty space’. But some ancient cultures (including Native Americans) see the void as the home of ‘all that is not yet in form’. In other words it is ‘the space that holds creative power’; the ‘Great Mystery’; or ‘that which holds all the energy of the creative source’.
What if we consciously breathe multiple times daily to make each of the three parts of breathing active? And as we practice this conscious breathing, extending the time of inhalation and exhalation, we also start to practice extending that piece of breath residing in the void- the space that holds the creative power. And after we extend each of the three main parts of breathing we start a practice of intentional thought during breathing to tap Universal Energy to create the benefits we desire for our bodies: physically, mentally, and spiritually.
With Gratitude and more to come,

If it has never worked before, what makes you think it will be effective now?
We all know that one definition of insanity is making the same decisions and expecting different results. And yet we have all at some point in our lives repeated unsuccessful behaviors over and over again. We have tried to change our relationships by changing our partners. We have tried to improve our careers by being angry at our employer and expecting them to change. We have tried to improve our financial or emotional or spiritual lives, or our health, but continuing to act based on outdated and inaccurate beliefs. None of these techniques has ever worked, and yet we try them again.
Patterns make our lives easier in many ways. However they also trap us. It is time to move on. It is time to reflect on our past, see the patterns that have wrecked havoc in our lives and consciously choose to change them. When we redesign our lives, leaving old models behind and creating new ones, we embrace a new self archetype. We are no longer left behind by life, we are leading the way. We are no longer reacting through anger and fear, we are responding through our power.
It is time and you are courageous enough. Change your choices and you will change the direction of your life.

How To Survive As A Highly Sensitive Person
Those of us who are tuned in or sensitive may feel the effects of our environments quite acutely, whether it’s the full moon, shifts in the energies that surround us or angry drivers in rush hour traffic. All this input can cause us to wind up feeling blue, overwhelmed and just off kilter. If that applies to you, I wanted to offer up a few of my favorite tools for shifting your perspective and getting back to feeling positive, healthy and refreshed.
Move your body. Go for a walk or run, do some yoga, or dance. Exercise releases endorphins into your bloodstream, which will immediately give your outlook a boost.
Feel the feet in your shoes and the breath in your lungs. Get present. Breathe. Get into the NOW. The very best way I know of taking care of all the future moments is to take care of the one you're living in now; and sometimes that means gently bringing yourself back to where you’re at.
Ask yourself if whatever you’re stressing about will matter in five years. Will it? We are all faced with big decisions and life events like deciding to marry, purchasing a house, moving, becoming a parent and final exams; changes that can all be quite stressful. However, much of our time is spent stressing about things that won’t matter next week, much less in five years from now. So - cut yourself some slack if you’ve made a mistake at work or feel like feeding your child macaroni and cheese for the third time this week makes you a less than ideal parent. We’re ALL doing our best - and so, my dear, are you.
Write or draw about it. Often the act of organizing your thoughts in the form of a journal entry or a drawing that symbolizes the situation can help you gain insight. I love the cathartic release of being able to express what’s bugging me - and oftentimes solutions come to me when paragraphs begin to take shape on the page. At the very least, you’ll get it off your chest, at best you’ll be inspired with some solutions.
Find some gratitude for what you DO have, right now. This one is a never fail for me. Let’s face it, here in the United States, Canada and Europe we’re not faced with serious survival issues. Chances are if you’re reading this you have a computer, a smart phone, enough money to pay for internet access and that’s enough to be grateful for right there!
We’re not walking around without shoes, safe drinking water or facial burns because we’ve refused a marriage proposal. Look around you - what are you grateful for right now? Your child’s beautiful face? That delicious cup of coffee in your hand? A warm bath with candles and a good book? A binge-worthy series on Netflix that you can get caught up on? You get the idea; and if you’re like me, you have much to be grateful for. Gifts are everywhere, make sure you’re keeping your gift goggles firmly on your face and focused on what’s real. Find the blessing in your current situation.
Literally change your view 180 degrees. Bend over and stare at the ceiling from that vantage point. Get on the floor with a child or a pet and look up, or under the sofa (Note: do not stress if you see dust bunnies! Bonus if you find loose change!) The world looks pretty different from down there, doesn’t it? Go climb a hill and look down at how peaceful the vista is - doesn’t matter HOW you do it, as long as you *DO IT*. My hero Einstein says that you can’t change a problem with the same thinking that created the problem, and in my humble opinion, truer words were never spoken. Change your vantage point. (This may also cover the move your body category too - very efficient!!)
Seek input from a trusted guide or outside source - a friend, sibling, significant other, or you can call me for a psychic reading. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes can bring in a new piece of information that completely changes how you view a situation. With my special set of “eyes” we can deconstruct, heal and transform whatever challenge you might have on your plate. Give me a call, I’d love to hear from you.
Whatever you do, be gentle with yourself and know that you’re being divinely guided to welcome in all the opportunities and experiences that will unfold for your highest good. Have faith that what you are dreaming about is en route. Write it down. See it having already happened. Affirm that it is YOURS. Now. Vision it, dream it, write it, speak it, paint it, sing it, summon it. You create the reality you live in. Every thought you think, every feeling you feel and every word you say has an impact on your life. It’s ALL happening. Be careful what you wish for.
I’m here for you - and I'm with you on the journey. I look forward to connecting with you.

Awaken Your Voice
Of the seven major chakras, the throat chakra is the channel of emotional and mental expression and internalization. It is also a vortex of transformation, a bridge between our inner world and the outer world. The throat and the voice represents our capacity to communicate, share and interact with others and our world, and tools of intimacy, connection, creativity, transformation, destruction and manifestation. The throat chakra governs the senses of hearing, taste and smell and is the gateway of the breath of life. Physically, it governs the ears, nose, jaw, mouth, lips, teeth and gums, esophagus, tonsils, neck, medulla center (base of the skull), larynx, thyroid gland, and the tongue. In its highest form, it is demonstrated in the ability to communicate openly, truthfully, fearlessly, with compassion, discernment, understanding and mental and emotional clarity.
When you were born, you took your first breath and then made your first sound. Even though you were naked and vulnerable, you made your presence known. Many of us don’t like the sound of our own voices, afraid to be seen and heard, or don’t want to draw attention to ourselves. Much of these fears are related to imbalances in the other chakras caused by the way we have internalized life experiences. Often, when we awaken the voice, the sounds we make can activate memories from childhood that bring up difficult emotions. Trust that your voice is a tool of transformation and healing, a symbol of your presence in this life and your right to be here. As you practice to express and listen to your own voice, you will learn to do things in your life that once seemed impossible. In my experience, voice activation has been the most powerful catalyst for addressing all other chakra imbalances and their manifestations in my life.
Below is an introductory exercise to help you clear and awaken your throat chakra. During this exercise, it is perfectly normal that feelings of vulnerability and fear surface. Go as far as you feel comfortable and be conscious of your inner emotions as you sound. Give yourself permission to explore this exercise uninterrupted for the next 25 minutes or longer.
Enter your sacred space or a place where you will not be disturbed or feel self-conscious about being heard. Turn off your phone and any other distractions. Remove any restrictive clothing or accessories.
Standing in a relaxed position, start with a few, slow, deep open-mouth breaths. Relax your jaw. Stretch your neck muscles, tipping your head slowly from side to side towards each shoulder, rolling your head forward and back. Lift your shoulders up to your ears and drop them down again. Loosen up the neck and shoulders with these stretching exercises, as you continue to breathe in a balanced, natural rhythm. Stretch your mouth as wide as you can, loosening the jaw. Stick out your tongue as far as you can, wiggle it back and forth, opening your mouth wide.
Next, as you breathe in through your mouth, make a long ‘AHH’ sound on the exhale. Do this several times, opening the mouth, jaw and throat, and letting the tongue hang out of your mouth. Don’t try to make it sound pretty, let this natural sound of relaxation ride your breath out. Pay attention to how you feel physically and emotionally while making this sound.
Continue this breathing in and AHHing with your exhale. Start to move your body slowly in any way that you want, bending and stretching as you breathe in and sound out. Sense or imagine your in-breath is reaching all the places of tension, stress and pain in your body. Then sense or imagine that the tension, stress, or pain is being lifted and removed from your body with each out-breath, your AHH sound is the magnet drawing it out and away. Let your voice be the vehicle of release and relaxation. You may wish to jump up and down, shake your body, or make any other movement that feels good to you, continuing to breathe in and sound out.
After you feel you have released all the tension in your body, rest quietly for a few moments in silence, paying attention to how you feel in your body, the thoughts, feelings and sensations that emerge. Journal your experience and insights.

The Truth Magnet: Your Intuition
You know that gut feeling when a decision needs to be made and your body is screaming the answer, but you continue trying to figure out what to do? Put that logical mind in the backroom and listen! Our body and intuition never lie...but fearful thoughts do! Then there are well meaning people (or sometimes controlling friends and others) who think they have answers for us and want us to listen to them as they tell us what we need to do. I wonder how would each of our lives be different if we listened to the messages of our own intuition and body instead of listening to others or our fears.
Intuition--we each have it. It is composed of our life experiences, all of our senses, and our instincts. It is a feeling that overrides all mental logic and reasoning. Our body really is our special individualized pendulum barometer. Intuition cuts right through all brain processes and pole vaults right past unanswered questions hitting the bullseye of a valid, true answer.
If we each have it, why don't we listen? Sometimes we rely on fear instead of intuitive messages presented. There is a big difference between the two in our bodies. Intuition is a calm feeling empowering us to feel comfortable in our own skin, even if we are not absolutely sure of the message we receive. Fear on the other hand comes in with increased heartbeats, sweaty palms, dizziness, and rushing adrenalin. It carries strong emotions. Listening to fear when making a decision is similar to our old reptilian brain running from T-Rex into our cave of safety. We may feel relieved but only because we just escaped being eaten or in today's world because we finally make a decision and we can quit agonizing over it only to often discover that fear based decision did not really help.
We can train ourselves to tap into our intuition more often and avoid fear based decisions which may not be in our highest good. How can we tap in and really listen?
It will require getting quiet, slowing down, and s-h-h-h-h listening. Listen to your gut. It is your second brain. Breathe and relax. Your gut is your catalytic wisdom. Gut messages bring calmness and slow down our anxieties. Our gut actually is lined with millions of nerve cells creating a neurotransmission of sensations that deliver important messages to our brain which in turn creates actions to take which are solutions!
Pay attention to your energy around people and situations. Your body and intuition will guide you in reading the truth. Intuition will tell you if you are energized or drained. This gift alone will begin to help you make great decisions in relationships and life altering choices!
Meditation is one of the best tools to access and awaken your Superpower--your sleeping intuition. It trains you to slow down, becoming more observant and alert to the things that really matter in your life.
Connecting with nature by either sitting still or walking mindfully helps us tune in and increase our intuition by paying attention to the environment around us.
Finally, knowing what silences our intuition is helpful. Strong emotions, especially negative ones, can affect and disconnect us from our intuition. Constantly keeping busy, multitasking, and frequent connection to electronics and digital devices are intuition deflating activities.
Feeding and nurturing our intuition will help us thrive and experience our life in a substantial way. Knowing we each hold the key to our own answers will empower us to be a better version of the person we already are as we unlock our hidden potential of accessing and using our wonderful intuition.

Blessed Mother Mary: We know her as the Mother of the Messiah, Jesus, but she is also our Mother in every sense. Ever-nurturing and faithful, she adores being one of our closest allies, providing guidance, comfort and maternal hugs. Mother Mary's pure and unconditional love supports us through all of life's moments, even if it's to cry in her arms and feel that love. Her purity, strength and belief in the truth to reign supreme is powerful. In 2016, we will witness the power of that truth through revelations that occur this year. Her bond with us is sacred and she had made many apparitions over the years, most notably in Lourdes, Fatima, Ireland and Yugoslavia. Talk to Mother Mary at any time. Her aura comes through as blue, pink or gold and rose quartz is a wonderful connection to her. She is our constant companion.

Bitch Scopes Upadates, October 7-14
This week will be quite a week energetically. It just feels busy, with some inner tension.
Last week when Mercury moved into Scorpio, you may have sensed something different. There are clues here about what Mercury retrograde will hold late this month. Have you noticed something around intimacy, communication, joint resources and money?
This week there’s definitely a sense of restlessness building. There’s plenty of opportunity to explore and develop the self this week.. And with the Sun in Libra, I feel like the focus is about the give and take in all relationships. It could be a lot to process, and the Moon in Aries doesn’t make it any easier. This is not a lunation with a natural emotional flow. Aries wants to DO things, and the Moon wants to FEEL things. We could be processing most of this until the early days of November. So be very patient with yourself and your closest people. We are all a little raw.
A great Full moon intention or ceremony would be to release ego based behavior in relationships. Also, setting an intention to respond to life rather than react would be great. If you feel bold, you could set an intention to release your inhibitions about certain things. I highly recommend that you include fire for this ceremony. Maybe a head dress, crown, special hat, etc. Use and include your physical body in this ritual.
Oct 7 Mercury opposite Uranus - busy mind, lightning insights, possible nervousness
Oct 7 Sun square Saturn - heavy energy, darker thoughts, lower energy
Oct 8 Venus enters Scorpio - deeper connections, possible jealousy, more intuition, intimacy, neediness, intensity in love.
Oct 9 Sun inconjunct Neptune - Imbalance in the sense of self, disolution of ego.
Oct 12 Mars inconjunct Uranus - Unanticipated action. Throw your hands to the wind and enjoy the ride.
Oct 12 Venus opposite Uranus - possibilities here: relationship disruption, or sharp insights to your personal needs.
Oct 13 Sun sextile Jupiter - good luck and positivity, good physical energy
Oct 13 2:07 pm pst Full Moon 20° Aries - This could be chock full of both awkwardness and progress. This moon aspects both Pluto and Jupiter. The full moon is emotional, and Aries is impulsive and action oriented. Deep unconscious feelings may try to rise up, thanks to Pluto. Aries will want to act. Thankfully Jupiter will expand your intuition and keep you present so you don’t uh...lose your shit. There’s a discomfort here, a restlessness. Watch your local news and see how this unfolds in the collective...it could be interesting. On the positive side though, there’s progress to be had here. You could be recognized for your leadership on something. What was previously difficult could smooth out after this. But accessing and processing your emotions about things will be a challenge. Stay spiritually awake and try to control your impulses.
Oct 14 Mercury sextile Saturn - practical conversion from thought to action/reality
Oct 14 Sun square Pluto - intense energy. Maybe a little paranoid.
October brings us into the thick of Libra season. Our lives automatically seem to seek balance. Even the weather evens out. We get to put away our sweat stained tank tops and put on our cozy pumpkin latte life. We feel alive, flirty, social (or not, that’s ok too!) and there’s a strong focus on all of our relationships. But it isn’t only romance that comes under this sign. Libra deals with all partnerships, so your business dealings will come under some scrutiny this month as well. Do you trust the people around you? Where are the imbalances of power, control, justice? October also ushers in a burgeoning mass of Scorpio energy. (The only word better than “burgeoning” to describe Scorpio might be “throbbing”, but I was trying to be ladylike. Oops. See title of Scopes) Secrets are kept and revealed. The veil becomes thinner and our connection to things unseen becomes more noticeable. Our intuition will get louder this month and next. It is time to trust...your inner knowing, your self, and the people in your intimate circle. Scorpio loves to plumb the depths of intimacy, and Mercury will retrograde in Scorpio at the end of this month. This is merc’s 3rd retrograde this year, and all have been in water signs. How we perceive and communicate our emotions has been under inspection and intensification. In scorpio, the themes of depth, intimacy, shared resources and finances, revelations, and sexuality are all on the docket. Where you have Scorpio in your chart, expect a deepening of expression and sensitivity.
The Full Moon is October 13th, in Aries, and the New Moon is October 27, in Scorpio.
There’s an ….”interesting” amount of Plutonian energy, which perhaps you’d expect in October, and what I would consider an unsual number of inconjucts, or Quincunxes. These are disconnects in the energy of the 2 parties involved. There are only 3 Quincunxes in the list of transits I used to write these scopes, but that is more than any month in recent memory. At any rate, it seems significant to me so I’m listening to that. 2 of these aspects are involving Neptune. So while the veil may be thinning, there is still a lot of mystery that we are being asked to embrace. Uranus provides some unexpected action in this mix as well. And Venus jumps at me out of the list. Maybe love is the ultimate mystery this month...
This month promises progress to many signs who have been impatiently doing the work. There is beautiful and deep potential in this 31 days…
For a weekly energy forecast, subscribe to my newsletter
Aries - The month of October promises new avenues of career and professional progress for you. There is work involved, but you have probably already put in the hours. So now, you have to be willing to get out of your own way and accept what life wants to bring you. The last few months have been very trying. You have shed a lot of bullshit from your life and learned, yet again, what you are and aren’t willing to tolerate. What you’ll do to succeed? Move mountains, apparently! No one ever accused an Aries of being lazy! But your time to shine is here...there’s just some tedious rehearsals before every show.
Taurus - I feel you emerging from a long sleep of sorts. Things may have been in neutral for the past few months, and some of that has been by your own design. But I sense there is something waking up within you, something that will have you dissatisfied with what you have been tolerating for some time now. These types of awakenings can come with some harsh reminders, but they mostly feel ...rude...not traumatic. So tolerate these things as you would a rude customer or client - with dignity and integrity, manners, and stoicness. Then get in your car at the end of the day and swear and eat the best chocolate you can find. Progress is coming!
Gemini - Abundance is the word that came to me when I sat down to write your scope. And I feel it shows up for you this fall in a number of different areas of life. Personal growth, personal finances, and personal circle. I feel a growing mental nag that you’ve had for some time, a decision you’re trying to make that you’ve been wrestling probably for too long (mutable problems). I also sense an educational theme will start emerging soon, or may have already. . Whatever this nag is, it won’t go away, so you may as well pursue it if it isn’t already pursuing you. Also your ability to find, receive, be gifted, and acquire money feels strong this month. You may have reinvented yourself in certain ways in the last couple of months, and that energy will continue to deepen this fall. That will attract in the new tribe of people you have been hoping for, and soon this abundance energy will show up as a wider circle of friends.
Cancer - A dual energy comes through for you in October. There is a desire to be at home, to blossom, plant, nurture, be with family, and do the things you adore this time of year. But I feel your career will be opening up in a big, new way, after some surprising turns. So there will be this opposing energy pulling you in both directions. You are completely capable of handling this dynamic if you determine where your boundaries are. That may prove to be the biggest challenge for you this month.
Leo - Your scope has an odd feel, because it is composed of a mish mash of energies. On the one hand, I feel you have had some health issues nagging you in the last couple months. I feel this may have rippled into your work/home life in some way. But the other half of this mismatched coin is a celebratory energy around you in October. This leads me to believe that you will experience an uptick in your health and energy this month. You will be celebrating your self in a number of ways, but not in the Proud Leo Cliche way. This is an authentic appreciation for yourself. And with this wave of odd energy mashups comes an opportunity you’ve been waiting for. So...yay you! Rawr!
Virgo - You’ve been doing a lot of work on yourself. Some of it has been forced on you over the last year. The last few months in particular were probably intense. Pain and difficulty never feel like healing, but they are. However, in October I sense a shift into some gentler energy for you. While, on the one hand, work life may get busier, your forced self care starts to actually feel like it’s working. So if you’ve had the “spiritual flu”, and you’ve been metaphorically rolling around in bed moaning, you’re now about to reach the point of sitting up, eating, watching Oprah, and truly recovering. Yay you!
Libra - Well this is your time to shine and you know it. You may have been a bit withdrawn over the last couple months, but starting at the end of September, you probably started to feel the shift. You feel more social again, your flirt muscles can get a proper work out, and you’ll be feeling yourself in various ways. There’s also great career progress building behind the scenes. Watch for news around December/January regarding an offer of some sort. . Happy Birthday and congrats on the growth!
Scorpio - You’re gearing up to enter your season, but you may not be feeling very party-ish. The time around our birthday is almost always a time of reflection and introspection, and no one does that better than a Scorpio. So you may be examining choices you’ve made and if they still serve you. Sometimes that shows up as regret and anxiety about what choice to make. You are not one who shies away from sacrifice, but there needs to be a pay off or you won’t touch it. The good news is, all of this deep reflection is not for nothing. I do feel a shift in your finances coming down the pike. An influx or increase of income, or a new opportunity. The energy is already building, behind the scenes, of course, where all things Scorpio happen! There’s also a strong sense of satisfaction for you this month, coming from a project you have worked on. Reward yourself - pretend the rainy day is today...
Sagittarius - You are entering a season where you’re being asked to get a bit more intense about a certain part of your life. You will continue to have to push yourself through the thick parts of this energy. If it all seems like a test, it is. Do you really want this thing? How bad? How necessary is it? What are you willing to do for it? Where in your life are you struggling? Look to the opposite area of that and turn your truth teller inward and admit where you are deceiving yourself, in denial, or skating by… This is the balance Libra wants you to find…
Capricorn - Congratulations on the movement you’re about to experience, especially in your ever present career zone. If you’ve been feeling stuck or stagnant, (thanks to a lot of heavy energy in your sign) you’re about to get a refreshing breeze blowing through your life. Whew - So very needed! No one works harder, or more, than a Cap, and your efforts are going to bear fruit this Fall. The hard work is never really done, but things will feel much less sisyphean going forward. Your relationships will feel slightly less difficult, and money will be more cooperative as well. There may be one more speed bump before notable progress. And yes, Saturn is with you for another year, but he’s direct and getting shit done!
Aquarius - You have been laying the foundations for things you may not even be aware of. And you will continue to build this month, just by being your weird self. This Fall, you will start to see some interesting things develop in places you didn’t expect. I sense part of this is new career avenues that you’ve been manifesting but sort of forgot about (which is the best way to manifest!). Now is not the time to become complacent, no matter how frustrated you feel. In fact, whatever you’ve been doing, keep doing it. The reward is coming. For now, relationships should feel a bit easier than they have in the past few months.
Pisces - There has been a burst of growth for you over the last months, though it may be subtle. A great deal of healing has taken place and you’re more ready to track down that dream deferred. This season of connections, though, may distract you from your goals a bit. So stay awake, and stay determined, and stay focused on yourself. This is hard in a sea of others. If you can differentiate your feelings from everyone else’s you’re half way through the battle! The thing you are most afraid of is also the thing you deeply desire. Identify what that is and keep your eye on it!
One day this week I came home to a truck blocking the driveway that leads to the apartment I rent. As soon as I saw the truck completely blocking the road, my busy little mind took off at full speed with irritation and how thoughtless the driver was for leaving the vehicle unattended. I had purchased groceries and would now need to carry them in down the driveway and leave my car parked on someone else’s property until I could get through. My thoughts traveled to the people who had hired the person driving the truck. How could they not be aware of the truck blocking the road? They didn’t have to get out, so it was no problem for them. As I carried my groceries down the driveway my frustration only grew until I got inside my place and got things put away. Suddenly, I caught myself and realized the path I was taking in my mind. The path of the victim. I was throwing my energy all around to the truck driver, the people who hired the truck driver and so on. Woah Nellie, take a few steps back and really consider the situation. The driveway isn’t that long really and ya’ll don’t have that many groceries to carry in. The neighbors are pretty relaxed about people parking off the road when needed. What I’ve come to understand is that it doesn’t really do me any good to throw my energy around at people or situations. If I need the truck to move, I’ve got to use my voice and tell someone to get the truck out of the way. Or, if it’s not a big deal to park and walk in, just park and let my mind be neutral about the situation. I really had to laugh at myself for all the contortions I let my mind go through over a perceived barrier. Through my own amusement at myself and taking a couple steps back to observe where my mind had traveled I was able to reel myself in and return to a far more neutral state of being. This all reminds me of the Cherokee legend of the two wolves: A Native American boy was talking with his grandfather, “what do you think about the world situation?” he asked. The grandfather replied, “ I feel like two wolves are fighting in my heart. One is full of anger and hatred. The other is full of love, forgiveness and peace.” “Which one will win?” asked the boy. The grandfather replied, “The one I feed.” Which wolf are you feeding today? Sending you love, forgiveness, compassion and peace.

The radiant poem project
This week, we’re jumping all the way into the pool. No more “taking steps” toward self-care. It’s time to immerse ourselves. It’s time to be Delighted.
Delight: “A high degree of pleasure: JOY”
Delighted: “Highly pleased”
(Definitions from Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
Our poem this week is “Having a Coke with You,” by Frank O’Hara.
In a recent conversation with a good friend she asked me what I thought my soul had come to earth for. Did I have a mission? At the time she asked me I was looking at a photograph of myself at age four. The look on my face is mischievous and I look like I am really enjoying the heck out of the family reunion at my uncle’s house where the photograph was taken. My answer to my friend? I said, I’m here to be delighted.
I’m here to be delighted. I’m here to be highly pleased. Are you?
Delight means to feel happy to feel bubbly and joyful in the presence of something that brings you joy. Do you allow yourself to be delighted? Do you hold back or stifle your excitement? Are you caught in a downward spiral of negative thinking and have forgotten about the simple things that bring you joy?
It’s interesting to try on “Delight” right now when so much of our world is in chaos. We have to be the still point at the center. We have to cultivate ways to stay present to our life and to enjoy it.
So, how about delighting in it?
This week’s poem, “Having a Coke with You” by Frank O’Hara, illustrates delight. Frank O’Hara was an American poet and art critic in New York in the 1950’s and 60’s. His poetry is confessional and reads like a letter. Poetry was for him a form of communication, with the air, intention, and intimacy of a casual phone conversation—a style he coined “Personism." His work is fun because it’s very intimate and spontaneous at the same time.
Looking at the current astrology, many of us are coming to the end of something. Coming to the end and letting go—it’s time. It’s time to decide that this is your life.
And, that you deserve to be delighted. It’s a time of reviewing our partnerships and relationships with people, places, things. Right now, it will be easier than ever to let go. There’s a detachment that’s available. We are just not interested in hanging on to things that cause us harm anymore. We’re not interested in fixing things that are other people’s responsibility to fix.
This leave us with a lot more energy for ourselves and for our own dreams and desires. This raises our energy. It keeps us at a high energetic vibration and it attracts other people and experiences of similar high vibration.
It allows us delight.
This poem can help instill a feeling of delight. It is pure simple delight. The narrator enjoys the presence of their beloved. See if you feel it as you read it or hear it. It’s one of my favorite love poems because it is so immediate, specific and conversational. I find it delightful!
I hope you do, too. Let this be medicine to your mind and heart. See if you can approach the next few hours (or beyond) after hearing this poem with curiosity and delight!
Having a Coke with You
~ by Frank O’Hara 1926-1966
is even more fun than going to San Sebastian, Irún, Hendaye, Biarritz, Bayonne
or being sick to my stomach on the Travesera de Gracia in Barcelona
partly because in your orange shirt you look like a better happier St. Sebastian
partly because of my love for you, partly because of your love for yoghurt
partly because of the fluorescent orange tulips around the birches
partly because of the secrecy our smiles take on before people and statuary
it is hard to believe when I’m with you that there can be anything as still
as solemn as unpleasantly definitive as statuary when right in front of it
in the warm New York 4 o’clock light we are drifting back and forth
between each other like a tree breathing through its spectacles
and the portrait show seems to have no faces in it at all, just paint
you suddenly wonder why in the world anyone ever did them
at you and I would rather look at you than all the portraits in the world
except possibly for the Polish Rider occasionally and anyway it’s in the Frick
which thank heavens you haven’t gone to yet so we can go together for the first time
and the fact that you move so beautifully more or less takes care of Futurism
just as at home I never think of the Nude Descending a Staircase or
at a rehearsal a single drawing of Leonardo or Michelangelo that used to wow me
and what good does all the research of the Impressionists do them
when they never got the right person to stand near the tree when the sun sank
or for that matter Marino Marini when he didn’t pick the rider as carefully
as the horse
it seems they were all cheated of some marvelous experience
which is not going to go wasted on me which is why I’m telling you about it
