We Invite You to Learn More.
North Coast Community Homes is a non-profit that provides high-quality, community-based homes throughout Northeast Ohio for people with developmental disabilities, severe mental illness, and other disabilities. Many of the wonderful individuals we serve have no family or have aging parents who can't as easily meet the growing demands for care. But with the support of many donors, volunteers, and professionals, we have developed and manage more than 220 community-based homes serving more than 1,000 men and women since 1984.
a special call to action
Our Mission Is Our Purpose
Zachary has been a resident of NCCH for more than 20 years. Having a home that is safe and well-maintained allows Zachary the stability, comfort, and freedom to do things like play the organ and work part-time at River Copy and Mail.
Zachary is one of over 700 people in need who we proudly serve and support.
North Coast Community Homes
Community based housing enables persons with disabilities to live just like anyone else - as part of a community, as part of a neighborhood. They can go to work during the week, enjoy leisure time in the home or their backyard, or be involved in local community events.
We work with local realtors to find the best possible properties for special needs housing. Efforts concentrate on placing residents in neighborhoods of their choice, dispersing homes throughout various municipalities & townships in the counties we serve.
Homes are customized to meet the specialized needs of our residents. We make modifications including fire safety systems, wheelchair ramps, & more so they can live in dignity & comfort.
The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.
At NCCH we take our fiscal responsibility seriously. Our mission is critical. We know that if not for us many of our residents could be in institutions, homeless, or with families who might struggle to provide the safety & care needed.
We receive funding from a variety of sources including rents paid by our residents, funding from government bodies (municipalities, counties, & the state of Ohio, & HUD), as well as charitable donations (foundation grants, corporate support, & individual contributions). These gifts of support allow us to keep rents low, provide expert & timely maintenance in the homes, provide MORE homes for more people in need, as well as provide community engagement experiences & opportunities for our residents.
North Coast Community Homes has 30+ years of amazing accomplishments, but we still have work to do. There are still many people with developmental disabilities, mental illness, and other disabilities who need safe, comfortable, and affordable housing. There are still parents of children with disabilities who wonder “What will happen to my child when I’m gone?”
In Northeast Ohio there are over 500,000 people living with a disability. Of those, over 110,000 live at or below poverty. For some, having a safe, well-maintained place to call home seems impossibly out of reach. But at North Coast Community Homes (NCCH), we believe that a safe, comfortable, and affordable home should be within reach for everyone – especially Ohio’s most vulnerable.
It’s the reason we do what we do. It’s why we need your support.
North Coast Community Homes develops and maintains safe, comfortable, and affordable community housing of high quality for individuals with developmental disabilities, mental illness, and other disabilities.
Our vision is to be the leader in fulfilling the housing needs of persons with disabilities.
North Coast Community Homes is governed by a 20+ member Board of Trustees, composed of men and women from diverse backgrounds and possessing the skills and community minded spirit to ensure that the organization’s mission is carried out most effectively.
