The layout of Top Golf is very unique. The tables are in one long row.
The golfing at Top Golf is not traditional golfing. The course that you are hitting balls onto is very large and is surrounded by one tall net. On the golf course, there are multiple large, colored circles that you are supposed to aim your ball at. To get points, your ball needs to make it into one of the circles. The farther away that the target you hit was, the more points you will earn. The computer system that is with your table keeps track of how many points each person has earned, because there is a tracker inside of each golf ball. There can be up to six people on each golf game, and each person gets 20 hits.
In the last few weeks, an exciting new place has opened in the Myrtle Beach area: Top Golf. If you have been on social media, you have most likely seen posts about this new location. Almost everyone is talking about it and trying to learn more about it.
Top Golf is very interesting, and it is unlike anything in the area. It is a restaurant where you can eat and play golf at the same time. There are other Top Golf locations all around the United States, and most are very excited to have one in our area.
The layout of the building is different than most restaurants, because it has to have room for every table to be golfing at the same time. The place is three floors high, and each floor is one long row of tables. All of the tables in the restaurant are looking on to the same golf course. Each table is accompanied with a computer station where you keep track of who is golfing and keep up with points.
While the golfing is a big part of the place, it is still a restaurant too. They have a full menu with breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts. The prices are kind of high, but not higher than you would expect for the area, and the food is very good. There is a server that will take your order, and they will bring it right to your table.
In order to go to Top Golf, you need to reserve a bay prior to arriving. From the time that they open to noon, each bay will be $25. From noon to 5 p.m., the bay will be $35, and from 5 p.m. to close, each bay will be $45 or $47 on a Friday or Saturday. While that sounds expensive, you pay per bay instead of per person, so that is split by the amount of people that you have with you. Also, in your time there, you can hit an unlimited amount of golf balls. However, there is a one time membership fee of $5. Once you pay this, Top Golf provides you with a card that you can bring back next time.
Top Golf is an amazing experience that everyone should try out at least once. The atmosphere is so much fun, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Even if you are not amazing at golfing, this place is definitely somewhere that you should try out!
The view of the golf course from some of the tables on the first floor.
Top Golf also has an area where you can sit and eat without playing golf.
Charlotte Russe is emptied at malls across the country
In the new era of online shopping, shopping centers are the ones facing the consequences. When people can shop from the comfort of their own home, they are finding it hard to come up with a reason to venture out into stores. In the past 20 years, there have been hundreds of malls shutting down and even more mall-based stores that have been forced to close their doors.
Charlotte Russe has been the most recent victim to the villain that is online shopping. Katie Phung, a senior at Socastee High School, stated that she “shops more at online stores, then going to the mall.” The business that was founded in 1974 declared bankruptcy in February of 2019 and stated that they were closing every location a month later. Other long-standing retail stores that are following suit are Claire’s, David’s Bridal and Toys “R” US. These stores are simply being outsourced by easier to come by products.
However, one benefit has come from the derailment of chain stores in malls; the growing population of small-business stores and boutiques taking their place. For example, at Coastal Grand Mall, the closing of major retailers such as Gymboree, FYE and Brookstone brought about the space for the locally-owned Apricot Lane Boutique. These smaller stores feel as though they have a chance to create a better connection with their customers and make their shopping experience enjoyable enough to want to leave the house for. Kayla Brekke, a senior at Socastee High School, said that “the last time that [she] went to the mall was a week ago and [she] goes over 50 times a year.”

The Extinction of Malls?
These are some apps that allow for home shopping.
However, shopping malls that have stayed in business and kept their chain stores
have taken a new approach. Malls that are in cities and larger towns have resorted to attaching the shopping centers in the same place as other focus points of the area, such as train stations and fitness centers. This has put people in the position to be forced into the mall for other reasons and it is hoped that they will be more apt to stay and shop.
For the hundreds of malls that are closing, those places have been turned into other businesses. Because of the size of them, some have transformed into “destination malls” that contain obstacle courses, and “ethnic malls” that focus on a certain ethnic demographic in the community and will contain stores that are aimed directly to them.
The bottom line is that chain stores are going out of style and that is directly hurting the style of shopping centers that have been such a staple of American culture since the 1950s. If malls
want to stay in business, they must adapt to the wants of their consumer population, and it simply isn’t big-company stores and spending hours shopping outside of their home to ultimately not buy anything.
It’s that time of the year again, the time of the year when people are glued to the television anxiously waiting for their team to make another free throw to win the game…. it’s the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men's basketball tournament, also known as March Madness. Since 1939, the NCAA basketball tournament has been very popular amongst many generations. College basketball teams play against one another to become the champions.
Many local colleges participate in the tournament, which is one of the many factors that makes people enjoy it so much. Seeing their hometown colleges play on national TV against other well-known teams.
The 2019 NCAA basketball tournament will be hosted in Minneapolis, Minnesota where 68 college teams will face each other. The tournament will last almost three weeks, starting on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 until April 8, 2019. It is split into five rounds; Round 1, Round 2, Sweet 16, Elite Eight and Final Four. The top 32 are chosen by a committee of ten people to play during the Division I conference, the other teams that qualify for postseason plays can receive an invitation to play in the tournament.
All 68 teams are ranked before playing in the tournament, and four teams are voted out of the tournament. The committee then categorized the teams in four regions and once again ranked one through 16. The team ranked as number one will play against the team ranked 16 and so on for the first round; this is called a seed. The “seeds” will continue playing until there are only two teams left.
People all over the country have begun to predict who they think will win the tournament. March Madness is an exciting three weeks that many basketball fans have enjoyed watching for years and are even more excited to watch this years' tournament.

More Than A Medalist
Kelly Catlin was one of a set of triplets and a part of a tight-knit family. She was dedicated to doing what she loved, such as play the violin, cycling and speaking foreign languages. Catlin, an American cyclist, and student at Stanford University committed suicide on Thursday, March 8, 2019, at the age of 23.
Her family was very supportive of her dreams and ambitions, but they were worried about her in the months before her death. Her family mentioned her having severe signs of depression due to her endless pressures with activities outside of school, not to mention the number of pressures on her as a college student as well.
“She got this idea [about suicide], which may have been related to her concussion. Just a week or two ago, we were making plans and I was optimistic about her future. She did have plans for the future, it turned out. Her plans,” said her brother, Colin Catlin.
Catlin also experienced two car crashes before she committed suicide, and she never performed the same when it came to cycling. Her father described it as a “perfect storm.” About a month before Catlin died, she wrote a blog for VeloNews.
“Being a graduate student, track cyclist, and professional road cyclist can instead feel like I need to time-travel to get everything done,…Most of the time, I don’t make everything work. It’s like juggling with knives, but I really am dropping a lot of them. It’s just that most of them hit the floor and not me.”
Unfortunately, she had a lot going for her. According to her friends and family, she was dedicated to her work and could've done big things. Her problem was, she struggled with the real world and couldn’t quite fit the balance of academics and out of school activities.
Olympic gold medalist, Kelly Catlin, died at the age of 23 earlier this month.

Bagels and donuts are very similar, but they are also very different. They are the same size and shape, but have totally different flavors. Bagels are usually more savory and can also be eaten as a sandwich, while donuts are a sweeter option, and are somewhat easier to eat. Donuts are also more likely to be less expensive, and they are not as filling as bagels, which makes them perfect for those who do not eating a lot first thing in the morning.

In our busy day to day lives, it can be difficult to eat a good breakfast each morning before we go to school. With a wide variety of breakfast options, such as Dunkin Donuts and Chick-fil-A, grabbing our breakfast on the way to school without even leaving our cars is easier than ever. It is also less time consuming than going inside to eat, which gives us more time to sleep and get ready.

Bagels vs. Donuts
When it comes to coffee, you either love it, or you hate it. Some people rely on coffee to get themselves energized first thing in the morning, while others just do not enjoy the rush of caffeine and would prefer something weaker, such as juice. Coffee and juice both come with a wide range of flavors, so there is something for everyone within the category they prefer.

It’s no surprise that pancakes and waffles are almost evenly divided when it comes to preference. When it comes down to it, the main differences between pancakes and waffles are the shape, the way they are made and the texture. Both breakfast options can be paired with a variety of toppings such as fruit, chocolate and other sweets, and these things can also be baked into them.
Boeing Commercial Airlines has released a new version of it's very popular 737 MAX recently, but it is now being viciously condemned for failed flights leading to hundreds of deaths.
This recent crash in early March followed a terrible crash in October in which 189 passengers and crew members died when the jetliner plunged into the Java Sea outside Indonesia. Both flights crashed after experiencing speed fluctuations after departure and the pilots tried to return to the ground. The October incident was still under investigation when the crash in Ethiopia took place.
The plane is supposed to be an advancement in air-travel; being more technologically dependant. Before the flight was set to depart on March 10, the pilots had noticed complications about the jetliner for as long as eight months, saying that the it was functioning oddly and it was thought to be a safety issue. It was set to fly anyways. Soon after departure the aircraft unexpectedly nose-dived to it's doom, killing all 157 passengers and crew members on board. The jetliner had reportedly been put on autopilot when the system started to malfunction which could have possibly caused the fatal crash. A pilot of another one of the jetliners reported a “temporary level-off” after putting it on automation.
An unnamed captain of a November 2018 flight has spoke out and called the aircraft's flight manual “inadequate and almost criminally inefficient”. They claim that part of the aircraft's flight system is “not described in our flight manual”. The Federal Aviation Administration have received at least 11 reports concerning the Boeing 737 MAX between April and December of 2018.
Ethiopian investigators have uncovered the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder the day after the crash and they hope they can provide insight to what truly happened on the aircraft. Whether it was just a faulty plane or was there something else at play?
Until the investigation is complete, President Trump has temporarily grounded all Boeing 737 MAX flights in the U.S., and now 42 countries have banned all flights on the jets. Despite the majority of opinions that believe the plane was faulty, the Federal Aviation Administration announced on March 12 that there were “no systemic issues” that would have caused the crash nor suspend any flights.
The crash is still under investigation and more information will be released in these next few weeks.

As the upcoming holiday of Easter is fastly approaching, there are many different traditions one may experience, one main part of the Easter celebration is sitting down with family and enjoying a home cooked meal. No one can forget what comes after dinner: the delicious homemade desserts like the mouth watering cupcakes. Throughout this article, I will go step by step in describing how you can make this treat in your own home.
First, you can start by either buying cake mix from your local supermarket or making it from scratch. I chose to buy white cake mix from my local Walmart. When starting this process, you will need eggs, vegetable oil, water, cupcake liners, a medium bowl and some type of mixer. First, put your mix into the bowl then add three eggs. You can either just add the egg whites or the whole egg, I added the whole egg because it was easier. You then add your ⅓ cup of oil and 1 and ¼ cup of water. Nex, yout will mix these together, an electric mixer may make it easier and mix more evenly. Then, you will put your cupcake liners in your pan and add your batter about halfway to the top of the liner. Next, you will preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and once that is ready, put your cupcakes into the oven for about 16 minutes or until gold brown and no longer gooey when stuck with a toothpick of fork. After you have baked your cupcakes, let them cool for about 15-20 minutes or until cool to the touch, and then you can begin your icing process. When you are ready to ice your cupcakes, you can do this with whatever color you would like or have at the time, I used vanilla icing with green food dye to make green grass on cupcake and did blue icing as little easter eggs.
Once this process is finished, you should have some very vibrant, colorful cupcakes to celebrate your Easter. This step by step activity may seem messy, but is rewarding because of a great outcome of hardwork and tasty treats. These cupcakes can be the lively piece of any celebration, not just for an Easter dinners.
The final product after long hours of baking and denying the urge to eat them all the cupcakes turned out great.
The cupcakes vibrant colors make them an eye catching treat at any event.

Chick-fil-A was founded in May of 1946, and it has continued to serve communities since. Chick-fil-A Surfside has officially closed for a remodel.
After a Chick-fil-A location has been open for 15 years or more, Chick-fil-A Corporate decides that a remodel is necessary. Chick-fil-A Surfside has been open for 18 years, and it looked very different when it was opened. In order for each location to meet the growth and demand of business, a remodel is essential.

One Size (Doesn't) Fit All
Picture this: you’re at the mall looking for a new pair of jeans. In one store, you’re a size 6 but in the next store, you’re a 2. How can this be? This has happened to all of us. You’re trying on clothes and you have to try on multiple different sizes in each store, ultimately leading to frustration. This frustration is caused by vanity sizing, or the act of brands labeling clothes a smaller size than they actually are.
Clothing brands began vanity sizing so that customers would have a higher self esteem when they wore the clothes which, as a result, positively reflected back on the brand. Stores found that when women felt better and smaller in the clothes, they were more likely to shop there again. Furthermore, if a brand does not go by vanity sizing, the consumer shopping there may be distressed when they have to continually size up in an item. Many women, like Summerville native, Cassie Hurley, aren’t even aware that vanity sizing takes place. When explained what it is, Hurley got slightly frustrated, as any woman would.
Senior, Emily Cook, explained her own frustrations that oftentimes many clothes simply don’t fit her petite frame. Cook is luckier than most of us and has mastered the maze that is shopping, stating, “I know certain stores whose clothes will run small or big,” allowing her to be knowledgeable on what sizes she is in each specific store.
Many women took the issue to Twitter and found that they weren’t alone in their struggles. Other users chimed in and responded to the original tweet with their own dressing room horror stories.
Rather than adopt a measurement system like the European measuring charts, clothing companies are likely in too deep at this point and will continue their own brand’s sizing. In a perfect world the brands may make this change, but right now they’re more focused on outselling their competitors, and sadly they can’t do that if women suddenly go from a size 0 to a 4 or larger.
Twitter user @chloemmx brings her frustrations about sizing to social media.

Don't forget your snacks because you wont want to miss one second of this two hour and fifteen minute movie.
At Market Commons, you have four opportunities to view the movie.
Cystic Fibrosis, commonly known as CF, is a hereditary disease that affects your digestive system and your lungs. People suffering from the condition usually have a shorter than average life span. Over time, this disease can cause lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time.
Thick mucus forms and clogs airways in the lungs, trapping germs and bacteria causing infections, inflammation, respiratory failure and many more complications. This is why it is so important for CF patients to minimize contact with germs and with other CF patients.
In the new film, “Five Feet Apart” a 17-year-old named Stella who suffers from CF spends most of her time in the hospital where she meets Will, a charming 18- year- old who also suffers from CF. They connected instantly but since they both have CF, they are not allowed to be closer than six feet to each other at all times. As their love grows stronger it gets harder to follow the rules.
Stella decides, since Cystic Fibrosis has taken so much from her, that she is gonna take one foot back and she is going to allow him to stand five feet away from her instead of six.
When Distance Matters
A Review of "Five Feet Apart"
Cole Sprouse who played Will.
This movie really emphasizes that sometimes no matter how hard you want something, you can't always have it; sometimes if you love it you have to let it go. Everytime Stella and Will were together, they were risking each others lives, and no matter the circumstances they will never safely be closer than five feet from each other.
Watching this movie is a real eye opener, it makes you realise how much we take for granted being able to touch our loved ones, being able to sit next to them, hug them, kiss them, ect. It would be hard knowing they could die any second and you have never and will never be able to touch them. This film was an amazing way to get the word out about how hard cystic fibrosis can be.
“I learned a lot about cystic fibrosis, it was informative because the main character talked about the different types and what she goes through. It also showed me how dangerous it is for patient to patient contact when someone has an autoimmune disease,” said Sydnie Horne, senior.
I would recommend this to anyone, it truly has a great lesson behind it and really makes you appreciate life. It also teaches you about what CF and since 70,000 people in this world are currently living with CF so why don't more people know what it is?
Stella, played by Haley Lu Richardson, did an amazing job and portrayed this character and this illness very well. Cole Sprouse also did an exceptional job playing such a difficult role as Will.
Overall this was an amazing movie, it was not only a beautiful love story but the actors made you feel what Stella, Will, and the other characters were feeling. This movie was a great way to bring to people's attention how serious Cystic Fibrosis is and maybe it will help raise funds and one day hopefully find a cure.
Hayley Lu Richardson who played Stella.
